Gulf Breeze October Events 2026: Dining and Family Fun

October 8, 2026

"Where BBQ meets Charity in the Panhandle." That's the tagline on the Smokin' in the Square website, and it fits most of Gulf Breeze's October food calendar this year. In three weeks, the area's three biggest ticketed food nights are a parish fundraiser, a Knights of Columbus dinner and the Chamber's annual tasting, where guests vote on the winners. None of them is a restaurant opening. Two are cooked by volunteers in the same parish center on Gulf Breeze Parkway. The third fills a city gym with local kitchens competing for a trophy, and ticket holders pick the winners.

So this October, the best way to eat across Gulf Breeze is to buy a ticket from a church, a fraternal council or the Chamber of Commerce.

Two Saturdays at 6464 Gulf Breeze Parkway

St. Sylvester Catholic Church hosts two of the three nights, two weeks apart.

International Fest, Saturday, Oct. 3. It runs from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Parish Center. Tickets are $20, and for that the parish promises "over 4 pounds of food from more than a dozen countries." Proceeds support Vacation Bible School, Elementary Religious Education and Youth Ministry. The parish calls it "one of our biggest annual parish celebrations" and is selling tickets online and in person after Masses. Neither the parish nor the Chamber listing names the countries ahead of time, so the menu is a surprise until you walk in. The festival also has a history. A Santa Rosa County listing called the 2023 edition "St. Sylvester's 8th Annual International Fest," held that year on a Saturday in late March. This year it falls on the first Saturday of October.

Oktoberfest Dinner, Saturday, Oct. 17. Doors open at 5 p.m. in the same building. The Mario "Chick" Alberghini Council 13277 of the Knights of Columbus presents it. The Smokin' in the Square Cook Team does the cooking, and the menu is set:

  • Chicken schnitzel
  • Bavarian pork loin
  • Pfister-style bratwurst
  • German potato salad
  • Carrot and string bean medley
  • Red cabbage and sauerkraut
  • Assorted breads
  • Chocolate cake drizzled with raspberry sauce

Tickets are $21. Water, soda, coffee and tea come with dinner, and beer and wine are offered on a donation basis. The organizers say seating is limited.

The cook team behind that schnitzel started out in barbecue. Smokin' in the Square began as a backyard competition in 2008 with 13 competitors, then spent years as a professional and semi-pro event at Seville Square and Maritime Park. After canceling in 2020 and 2021, the organizers came back as a smaller, home-style community event. They now run fundraisers all year: a barbecue competition in September, a Charity Poker Run in October, a raffle drawn in December and a Gulf Coast Cornhole Series in January and February. The money from all four is pooled and given out each June. This year, the group says 100% of proceeds go to Catholic Charities of Northwest Florida and the Little Sisters of the Poor.

That gives one parish center two Saturday dinners, a dollar apart in price, raising money for two different causes.

The two Saturdays share a building and a price range. The Friday night is a different kind of event.

The Friday Night Where the Crowd Picks the Winners

The 12th Annual Taste of Gulf Breeze moves the month's food from a parish hall to the city's community center on Shoreline Drive. On Friday, Oct. 23, from 6 to 9 p.m., the Gulf Breeze Area Chamber of Commerce brings in more than 50 local vendors: restaurants, food trucks, caterers and bars, each serving a signature dish. Every ticket includes unlimited tastings.

The voting is what sets it apart. At check-in, each guest gets three color-coded chips, one each for favorite appetizer, beverage and dessert. Guests drop the chips at the booths they like best to decide the Golden Spatula Awards. At the parish dinners, volunteers cook to raise money. At Taste, the kitchens are competing, and the people holding tickets decide who wins.

The event has outgrown what most people picture when they hear "chamber tasting." Gulf Breeze News reported a crowd of more than 1,000 in 2024, with both gymnasiums full of vendors serving appetizers, entrees, desserts and drinks. In 2025, the Pensacola News Journal reported a sold-out crowd estimated at more than 1,200.

The 2026 ticket details are:

  1. General admission, $35. Includes all vendors, entertainment and Golden Spatula voting.
  2. VIP, $75. Doors open at 5 p.m., an hour early, with complimentary beer and wine, early tastings from every vendor and reserved seating in the VIP lounge.
  3. ID at the door. The event is 21+ only, and every guest's ID is checked.

The early-bird prices of $25 and $65 ended June 30, and Eventbrite adds online fees. The 2026 vendor list is still forming. As of this writing, the Chamber has not posted a confirmed roster, and food-vendor applications on Eventeny stay open through Oct. 9. Two weeks before doors open, nobody outside the Chamber knows who will be competing.

Why the Food News This Fall Comes From Events

Gulf Breeze's 2026 restaurant openings mostly happened before spring. Sal's Pizza Cafe opened Jan. 7 at 3707 Gulf Breeze Parkway in the former Seneca's Deli space, serving stone-oven pizza, salads and sandwiches. Thai Street Food and Sushi opened in March at 368 Gulf Breeze Parkway, where Lao Ocean used to be. Bear Fruit Bowls and Coffee opened March 7 at 203 Gulf Breeze Parkway, the former Gulf Breeze Shop.

The newest announcement has no date attached yet. A Sept. 22 PNJ report says Fresh Monkee plans two Gulf Breeze locations, one at 868 Gulf Breeze Parkway in the Sea Shell Collections plaza with Publix, and one at 1430 Tiger Park Lane in Midway, near the Tiger Point Pavilion Publix. Both are listed as "coming soon," with no opening dates.

With no confirmed openings this month, the October food news comes from the parish center and the gym. These three nights are this fall's chances to try something new in Gulf Breeze. A dozen-plus countries' worth of dishes, a set German menu from a barbecue team and 50-plus vendors in one gym add up to more variety than any single opening could offer.

The Weekend in the Middle

The three food nights fall on the first and third Saturdays and the fourth Friday. The weekend between them is for families:

  1. Saturday, Oct. 10. Boo at the Zoo at the Gulf Breeze Zoo, with a Trick-or-Treat Trail that hands out candy, toys and goodies, plus bounce houses, face painting and keepers walking the grounds with animal ambassadors. The event ticket includes admission to the whole zoo. The zoo opens at 10 a.m. that day, and no one gets in earlier. Zoo members need a separate $10 event ticket.
  2. Sunday, Oct. 11. Breeze-O-Ween, run by Gulf Breeze Parks & Recreation from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Gulf Breeze Community Recreation Center, with trunk-or-treating, carnival games, bounce houses and more.

Put together, the month looks like this: the parish table on Oct. 3, costumes on Oct. 10 and 11, schnitzel on Oct. 17 and chip voting on Oct. 23. The Taste night is adults only, so the family weekend in the middle of the month helps balance it out.

On Oct. 3, $20 buys a seat at a parish table with food from more than a dozen countries. On Oct. 23, three color-coded chips decide which local kitchen takes home a Golden Spatula.

If your October plans include more than events and you'd like a local's take on what's changing around Gulf Breeze, Williams Coastal Group is glad to talk it through, whether that's a quick question or a longer conversation. Let's Connect.
